Director of Women and Children’s Services, Barts Health NHS Trust

Sandra Reading is a Director of Women and Children’s services in Barts Health covering 4 acute sites and 2 free standing birth centres with a total of 17,100 deliveries per annum. Sandra has worked in a number of UK maternity units in the north and south and developed the 1st PROMPT course with the team from Bristol.

Sandra has developed the ‘great expectations’ maternity improvement programme to influence and improve clinical skills, leadership and behavioural change. She has recently been awarded funding to develop an Intrapartum care bundle to aid decision making as a part of the UK sign up to safety programme and continues to develop Intrapartum training within London for multi-professional obstetric team training.
