Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF),  Royal London Hospital

Kirstie has been a midwife for almost 20 years and is currently the Clinical Practice Facilitator (CPF) at the Royal London Hospital, which involves supporting the student midwives throughout their training, both within the community and acute settings. Kirstie works collaboratively with the HEI’s to ensure that students are supported and the midwifery programme is fit for purpose.

Kirstie previously worked for five years as part of the Riverside team, which is an integrated midwife team based at the Barkantine Birth Centre, where she was the lead midwife. She is extremely passionate about normality, normalising the birth process and giving exceptional care to women throughout their pregnancy, birth and post birth period. Due to her depth of knowledge and experience Kirstie was able to support the team of midwives who worked at the Barkantine Birth centre with developing their confidence in waterbirth and active birth.

Prior to joining Barts Health Kirstie worked for ten years within the private sector at the renowned Birth Unit, St John and St Elizabeth Hospital. There she worked with a highly experienced team of midwives encouraging normality, empowering and supporting women and family in their journey into parenthood. During this period of time Kirstie became Risk Manager and then Acting Birth Unit Manager. Kirstie has been a Supervisor of midwives since 2006 which has, in conjunction with her experience, enabled her to support midwives in their development and women in their facilitation of choice.
